Leadership TeamMayor Mike MurphyLeadership Team

Our thanks to Merced Mayor Mike Murphy for speaking at Wednesday’s MCSD Leadership Team meeting at the STEAM Center.

The Mayor shared his first experience in Merced which was as a student at Ada Givens Elementary, where he learned the value of being part of a community.

The Leadership team is made up of administrators and District staff who work to ensure that every student excels academically, builds character, and is a productive member of our community.

Talented students shine on stage

Cruickshank Jazz Band performs at Spotlight

Talented students shine at Merced City School District's Spotlight Showcase.

The 5th annual Spotlight Showcase was held Thursday February 13, 2020 at the historic Merced Theatre.

498 students performed over the course of the three hour show and 1,260 excited family members were there to cheer them on.

Spotlight is a celebration of arts in education involving all age groups from pre-school to 8th grade.

The arts are an important part of the STEAM program at MCSD, integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math into the curriculum.

The STEAM program is made possible by the support of the MCSD Board of Education.

Congratulations to all of our incredible performers, their dedicated coaches, and our behind the scenes team on a great show.

Post your photos of the event on social media using #WeAreMCSD.

Last weekend, the Ramirez family home burned down, in the Beachwood area.
As soon as the staff at Stefani Elementary heard the news, they knew they had to do something.
Yadida and Valeria Ramirez both go to Stefani Elementary, and their little brother Benjamin goes to nearby Franklin Elementary.
With the help of parents, the staff at Stefani has raised more than $1,400 to help the family get back on their feet.
Merced City School District Associate Superintendent Doug Collins, Principal Rick Her, Learning Director Juanita Pedrozo, teachers Robert Beltz, Tom Fullerton, Kai Her, and Merced City Teachers Association President Gary Arzamendi, presented the very grateful family with the money on Friday.
MCTA donated three new bicycles and helmets, one for each child.
MCSD thanks each and every person who donated, in an incredible act of kindness, which just so happens to come as we wrap up the Great Kindness Challenge.
Students across MCSD have been learning to be kind to others all week long.

Morning with Mom

Morning with momMoms arrive to Fremont.

Fremont Elementary School is celebrating moms.
310 mothers and community members took part in the first ever Morning with Mom event on campus Friday, January 31.
Many mothers were able to see what their child's day is like while they are at school.
"You get that quality time with them outside of your home," Marilu Valencia said while visiting with her child.
They interacted with students and helped them with an arts and crafts project.
"These students are going to leave today and remember this event forever so that makes it a pretty special day for us, " Principal Dawn Hubble said.
"It sends a very strong message to the kids, our students, and it's just all the encouragement that they need and help them be supported in their education and so it's just, it's wonderful to see," MCSD Board Member and mother of three Fremont students said.
California Highway Patrol officers also attended, to "Kind of give them a good role model and that way the kids kind of see you know, that the law enforcement community is basically out here to support them," Officer Eric Zuniga said.
In October, Fremont's staff organized a similar event, aimed at including dad's and other male role models, called Eat and Run with Dad.
