Stefani elementary community unites, helping students who lost home in fire
Last weekend, the Ramirez family home burned down, in the Beachwood area.
As soon as the staff at Stefani Elementary heard the news, they knew they had to do something.
Yadida and Valeria Ramirez both go to Stefani Elementary, and their little brother Benjamin goes to nearby Franklin Elementary.
With the help of parents, the staff at Stefani has raised more than $1,400 to help the family get back on their feet.
Merced City School District Associate Superintendent Doug Collins, Principal Rick Her, Learning Director Juanita Pedrozo, teachers Robert Beltz, Tom Fullerton, Kai Her, and Merced City Teachers Association President Gary Arzamendi, presented the very grateful family with the money on Friday.
MCTA donated three new bicycles and helmets, one for each child.
MCSD thanks each and every person who donated, in an incredible act of kindness, which just so happens to come as we wrap up the Great Kindness Challenge.
Students across MCSD have been learning to be kind to others all week long.
