from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Tenaya Middle School, 760 W. 8th Street, Room 15, to discuss school
reopening plans.

Merced City School District is prepared to facilitate world class teaching and learning for the 2020–21 school year. The health and safety of all students, their families, and all staff is our highest priority. MCSD continues to work closely with the Merced County Department of Public Health to ensure all guidelines are followed to protect against COVID–19.
School starts Wednesday, August 12th. All MCSD schools will be open on a full day schedule with enhanced safety precautions. Parents have the important decision of sending their child back to school or enrolling in a rigorous Distance Learning option that provides students with the same high-quality teaching and learning that students receive in school.

Register your child for distance learning preschool at Merced City School District. Several spots are still available for income-eligible families for the school year.
MCSD’s preschool program is committed to meeting the individual needs of ALL children through developmentally appropriate practices and empowering families.
All MCSD preschools are rated "high quality" by the State Quality Rating Improvement System and earned the prestigious Golden Bell Award from the California School Boards Association in 2018.

MCSD Preschool: Success starts here!
The results are in from the Merced County Writing Festival and students from Merced City School District have a lot to smile about.
Out of the nearly 2,800 preschool through 12th grade students from throughout the county who participated, close to 900 awards were earned by young writers who tested their skills in poetry and prose. MCSD students earned 268 of those awards.
They had the options of writing essays, letters, short stories, or poems.
Students received ribbons for placing first, second, or third.
The top two entries for each grade received gold medals; one for poetry and one for prose.
This year’s awards ceremony was cancelled, due to the COVID-19 global pandemic and stay-at-home restrictions.
Entries were submitted before schools closed.
The Merced County Office of Education delivered awards to schools before the end of the school year.
