Family Engagement Resource Center (FERC)
The Student Support and Academic Enrichment program under Title IV, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act as amended by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) is a federal categorical program contained in the Consolidated Application. These funds are intended to increase the capacity of local education agencies (LEAs) to meet the goals of the ESSA by providing all students with access to a well-rounded education, improving school conditions for student learning, and improving use of technology in order to improve the academic achievement and digital literacy of all students with their families.
This effort is supported by Merced City School District's Family Engagement Resource Center (FERC). Program participants have the opportunity to learn and improve their English skills (listening, speaking, reading, and writing) through classroom instruction and interactive English language computer software. In addition to language literacy and computer training, they will also have time to acquire ideas and strategies on how to improve student's overall health and wellness (social, emotional, and physical), leadership development, and student safety through presentations/trainings by our district support personnel and/or our agency partners.
