M.A.R.S. LogoThe Merced Academy of Rising Scholars (M.A.R.S.) Program is funded through the Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELO-P) issued by the State of California. The M.A.R.S. Program provides programming for afterschool enrichment to transitional kindergarten (TK) and kindergarten, as well as summer school and intersession enrichment programs to TK through 6th grade. The focus is on developing the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs and interests of scholars through hands-on, engaging learning experiences. It is the intent of the Legislature that expanded learning programs are pupil-centered, results driven, include community partners, and complement, but do not replicate, learning activities in the regular school day and school year.

About M.A.R.S.

The M.A.R.S. Program strives to provide enriching opportunities for students after school. The Program runs a TK/K after school program at nearly all elementary school sites and strives to be open at all elementary school sites as soon as possible. This is in collaboration with the MCOE ASSETS program, which services 1st-6th grade students at most elementary sites. Peterson elementary serves TK-6th grade students through the M.A.R.S. Program.

In addition, M.A.R.S. has many community collaborations across the district. To provide even more opportunities to our students the M.A.R.S Program has partnered with Bali Tutoring, Playhouse Merced, ARTREE, and Boys and Girls Club of Merced. Many other community collaborations are in the works.
