MCSD to Celebrate Franklin Elementary with July 24 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Merced City School District is pleased to announce the completion of Franklin Elementary’s new Administrative Services building, and will celebrate with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in front of the new facility on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at 9:00 a.m.

Spanning approximately 3,500 square feet, the new student services center is state-of-the-art and equipped to support families of Franklin Elementary. This spacious environment will serve as the new home for all office personnel, the school nurse, and administrative staff as they work to support all of our student needs.

“The District is excited for the many new additions to Franklin Elementary made possible primarily through Measure M Bond funds,” Principal Cesar Hernandez said. “Our staff are anxious to be in the new building that is fully equipped and now strategically relocated near the drop-off area and parking lot of the school, making it easily accessible for families.”

The Administrative Services building is included in one of the 3 phases of improvements taking place at Franklin Elementary over the past 2 years with updates such as; school wide technology upgrades, 3 brand new modular classrooms with surrounding landscape beautification, and installation of an outdoor learning environment. Phase 3 has preliminary begun and will include 9 brand new modular classrooms to serve our youngest learners in Preschool and Transitional Kindergarten.

“Our students deserve to learn in the best facilities and environments, and be proud of the school they attend each day,” Superintendent Julianna Stocking explained. “These improvements are an example of that. “Across our District we are pleased of the strides made thus far, but understand there is more work to be done on behalf of our school communities.”

The new Administrative Services building was constructed in nearly 18 months. All upgrades at Franklin Elementary have an estimated cost of $2.6 million utilizing Measure M funds Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) 1 funds, and dollars from the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP).
