Calendar showcases Sheehy student's art
Air quality is closely monitored at all schools within Merced City School District, to protect the health of all students and staff, on a daily basis.
MCSD relies on the San Joaquin Valley Air Pollution Control District to provide the air quality forecast.
To help get the word out, the agency provides a calendar, which is illustrated by students.
The 2020 Healthy Air Living Kids' Calendar includes artwork by a student at Margaret Sheehy Elementary School.
Logan McDaniel is a third grader in Ms. Garcia's class.
They observe the air quality each day.
It is part of the science curriculum.
McDaniel is the artist whose work is featured during the month of May.
His illustration includes a bicycle, under a smiling sun, and blue skies.
The caption reads: "You should ride a bike."
On Monday, January 27, McDaniel and his classmates were paid a visit by a representative from the air district, in their classroom.
The rep presented McDaniel with his own copy of the calendar, a t-shirt, a frisbee, and more swag, for his help in promoting healthy air quality.
