Band students from Hoover and Rivera middle schools, as well as several MCSD elementary schools, performed during the annual Martin Luther King Junior Day march on Monday, January 15. They were under the direction of Ms. Cynthia Toupin, Mr. Dan Kalantarian, and Mr. David Hofland. The group began near the Merced County Fairgrounds and walked to the historic Merced Theatre while playing "We Shall Overcome."
Hundreds of other community members also participated in the march, including Merced City School District Associate Superintendent Mr. Doug Collins, Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services Ms. Paula Heupel, and Director of Curriculum and Categorical Compliance Ms. Elena Castro.
