The Merced City School District proudly participated in this year’s “Cap & Town” street fair in downtown Merced on September 10th. The event was a celebration of academic excellence throughout our community.
Bands from Cruickshank, Hoover, and Tenaya gave skillful performances under the direction of their talented teachers and enjoyed a great response from the crowd.
The Cap & Town festivities also included a classic car show, food vendors, face painting, a bounce house, and booths showcasing Merced College and UC Merced. The Greater Merced Chamber of Commerce organized the even with support from the City of Merced, along with several generous community groups and businesses.
Our Maintenance, Operations, and Transportation staff also played an important role by setting up stages for all of the performers and providing a bus for our district’s “Fill the Bus” book drive. Volunteers from Merced Sunrise Rotary helped collect those book donations throughout the day, and our hardworking warehouse crew has been keeping them all organized so they can be sent home with students. This event truly was a team effort, and we would like to thank everyone who came together to make it possible!
